Reporting to the Director of Category Management for a leader in the food manufacturing & distribution of iconic brands spanning a broad array of channels (i.e. Grocery, Club, Dollar) and including 3 key categories (pizza, desserts, and snacks).  Business generates $ 3 billion in revenues with 11,000 associates in 450 locations.

The Senior Category Manager – Walmart In this customer facing role, delivers category growth at Wal-Mart as the advisor in Frozen through actionable recommendations founded in insights. Leads a team of Category Managers with 2 direct reports. The team will own the annual category management advisory process and delivers category growth at Wal-Mart. Functions as the expert in the frozen dessert category and leverages critical thinking skills to identify opportunities and make actionable recommendations.  Success will also be measured via ability to define and implement a Category Management strategy, as well as drive category and business growth objectives.  Travel up to 10 %.


Background Required: 

  • Category management (strategic and tactical) with durable or non-durable consumer products (5 Years)
  • Shopper insights functional role with durable or non-durable consumer products (5 years)
  • Created, planned, and executed modular relays on Advisory team (2 years)
  • People and team management (hired, trained, inspired, motivated, & aligned)
  • Presented consumer, shopper and category insights in a comfortable, positive, influential manner
  • Fact based category opportunity recommendations (i.e. Retail Link, syndicated data)
  • Highly proficient expertise in retrieval and manipulation of syndicated data and its dimensions
  • AC Nielsen, NITRO, IRI Analyzer
  • Understands traditional statistical formulas and mathematical measurements
  • Secondary research, market research methodologies and processes
  • Interpreted and leveraged Homescan Panel purchase dynamics
  • Space Management Software (i.e. Spectra, JDA, Apollo)
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Residence: Bentonville, AR (strong preference for already residing in AR)


Background Preferred (but not required):

  • Consumer packaged goods industry
  • Advanced education: MBA
