A northern Indiana plastic manufacturer is looking for a Safety Specialist. You will be working for a company that is developing many different types of films that have a wide variety of product applications. The culture is a very collaborative environment with a tight knit team. They are consistently developing new products, and the process engineers are critical in the development of those process in relation to all departments with a unique patented manufacturing process.

The Safety Specialist will plan, organize, and supervise the day-to-day operations to identify, evaluate and assess probability and severity of losses. Implement safety programs and communicate to ensure compliance with such programs. This position will ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable regulatory standards which will include minimal environmental responsibilities to support site environmental compliance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and foster a positive safety culture.
  • Work together to identify Environment, Health, and Safety risks and implement solutions in a team environment.
  • Conduct site risk assessments, audits, and safety inspections.
  • Analyze loss data and perform root cause analysis.
  • Facilitate safety meetings.
  • Support and develop projects to advance safety

Qualifications:

  • 5 Years safety responsibility experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High School diploma required, bachelor’s degree in safety management or technically related field preferred. Will consider experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with manufacturing principles and processes such as TPM, Lean, 6-Sigma, and 5S preferred.
  • Must be willing to be on call and respond to on-site incidents or accidents outside of normal work hours
  • Must be able to travel to and work on occasion (minimal) to other facilities in Northern Indiana
