Job Responsibilities: 

The Mechanical Engineer – Healthcare Design Project Manager will have 10+ years’ experience in Healthcare Engineering Design (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) in an A/E or engineering industry.  This position reports directly to the Manager of Healthcare and will work closely with the Directors, Managers and Engineering staff to ensure client’s needs and expectations are met/exceeded in a timely fashion.  Successful candidates will be a part of and work with our senior staff to design complicated and various types of HVAC/Plumbing/ Medical Gas systems utilized within healthcare occupancies and have an understanding of fire protection/alarm systems for all types of healthcare facilities and laboratories.  It is also desired that candidates have strong specification writing experience

Additionally, the successful candidate must have a working knowledge and practical application of the following: 

• AIA Facilities Guideline Institute (FGI)
• ASHRAE 170 - Ventilation of Healthcare Facilities
• NFPA 70 (National Electric Code)
• Environment of Care codes as applied by The Joint Commission
• 99 (Healthcare Facilities Code)
• 101 (Life Safety Code)

Minimum Requirements:

• BSME or BSAE (with mechanical specialty) degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
• EIT or PE registration (highly preferred but not required)
• 10+ years healthcare design skills or related experience
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
• Knowledge of technology systems utilized within Healthcare
• Proven project management and supervision skills
• Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures
• Must be able to follow and properly apply FGI guidelines, the practices and policies of the associated local and building codes, discipline, divisions and firm.
• Review, understand, and apply local, state and federal codes and standards related to the design and construction of Healthcare facilities.
