Asset & Liability Manager (ALM Manager)

 

We’re looking for a senior leader to own our client bank’s asset-liability strategy, interest rate risk oversight, and balance sheet analytics. Reporting directly to the Treasurer, you’ll lead the ALM team, manage the Empyrean modeling platform, and build the analytical frameworks that help senior leadership make smart, forward-looking decisions. This is a high-impact role focused on optimizing balance sheet performance, staying ahead of regulatory expectations, and supporting long-term financial planning across the organization.

 

In this position, you’ll oversee the full ALM framework—modeling, forecasting, and analyzing how the balance sheet behaves under different conditions. You’ll evaluate interest rate risk using Empyrean and other industry tools, then translate those insights into clear recommendations that strengthen earnings stability, liquidity positioning, and capital efficiency. Day to day, that means running EVE and NII simulations, scenario analyses, and sensitivity tests, and explaining how market rate moves could affect earnings and capital.

 

You’ll also own the Empyrean model itself: behavioral assumptions, data integrity, documentation, back-testing, and model governance so everything meets both internal standards and regulatory expectations. You’ll prepare and present results, trends, and strategic insights to senior leadership, ALCO, and other governance committees. Deposit analytics will be a big part of the work—modeling betas, decay rates, and customer behavior to support pricing and deposit strategy. You’ll feed ALM inputs into capital planning (including CCAR-style stress testing, capital allocation, and dividend planning) and help develop multi-scenario stress testing frameworks that go beyond interest rate risk into liquidity, earnings, and capital.

 

Partnering closely with the Treasurer and CFO, you’ll work on funding mix optimization, investment strategy, hedging programs, and broader balance sheet initiatives such as loan portfolio reshaping. You’ll analyze the investment portfolio and reinvestment strategies with an eye toward risk-adjusted returns. You’ll also serve as the primary contact for Model Risk Management on validations and regulatory exams, oversee the data quality feeding the model, and drive improvements to ALM systems, data pipelines, and reporting automation. You’ll produce ALCO materials, regulatory reports, and internal packages covering interest rate risk, liquidity, and balance sheet performance, and collaborate with the FP&A group on forecasting, capital planning, and funds transfer pricing. Finally, you’ll lead, mentor, and develop the ALM team—setting goals, managing performance, and providing ongoing training.

 

What we’re looking for:

 

A bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field is required and hopefully an advanced degree or a certification such as CFA or FRM is preferred. You’ll need 7–10 years of experience in ALM, Treasury, liquidity management, or a related financial risk discipline, plus prior leadership or team management experience. Strong technical skills are essential—deep knowledge of ALM principles, interest rate risk measurement, and balance sheet analytics, along with solid quantitative and financial modeling abilities. You should be familiar with regulatory expectations around interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and model governance, and you need to be able to explain complex concepts clearly to executives, committees, and cross-functional partners.
