The Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer plays a pivotal role in developing new business within the commercial real estate lending sector, while also managing a portfolio of commercial real estate loans. This position involves recommending new lending business, acting as the primary point of contact between the borrower and the bank throughout the loan lifecycle, and overseeing loans, including construction financing.  If you’ve got a strong track record of conducting business in Central NJ and have a network of COI’s in the area, this could be an excellent opportunity for you to join a growing, multibillion-dollar community bank.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Business Development: Develop relationships with prospective commercial customers within the target market to generate new business. Leverage current Centers of Influence (COIs) to expand the client base.
  • Application Process: Meet with applicants, compile and analyze data for loan requests, and submit applications to credit analysts for financial analysis and approval recommendations.
  • Loan Proposal Preparation: Prepare comprehensive loan proposals, collaborating with credit analysts to expedite loan decision-making processes.
  • Product Recommendations: Recommend products and services to potential borrowers, explain loan requirements and processes, and screen loan requests based on bank policies and procedures.
  • Portfolio Management: Maintain an assigned portfolio of borrowing relationships, ensuring timely remittance of loan payments while adhering to quality and risk standards.

Qualifications Our Client is Seeking:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of CRE lending best practices, selling practices, credit underwriting practices, and economic, accounting, and finance principles.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, with a background in construction projects being advantageous.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrate strict attention to detail and thoroughness in completing job duties.
  • Critical Thinking: Utilize critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses in problem-solving.
  • Time Management: Display a high level of coordination, organization, planning, and prioritization of work.
  • Ethical Behavior: Exhibit honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior, considering ethical standards in decision-making and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to convey information clearly.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Analytical Skills: High reasoning skills, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Legal Understanding: Ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret legal documents, governmental regulations, and professional publications.
