Compensation: Salary range $120K - $150K + Annual Bonus (Target 20%)

This is an integrated contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) offering specialized drug substances and drug product processing.

The local manufacturing & R/D site has been in NJ for 20 years and due to high demand will be expanded with a brand-new site close by.

Group Info: Lead the Engineering and Maintenance group supporting the existing and new sites in NJ. The groups reporting under this role will be Validation, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, Process Engineering, Manager Maintenance over plant Maintenance technicians.

This role will report to the Director of Engineering and Maintenance.

Note1: The company is about to expand and acquire another building close by in a state-of-the-art manufacturing and R & D facility in New Jersey. The company is also growing and expanding overseas.

Job Description:

• Performs engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. Responsibilities are within the Engineering Family as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines. Understands the roles and workflows of the Engineering and Maintenance functions.

• Manage and support the TMs assigned to his/her area of responsibility, namely in terms of recruitment, integration, training needs and performance management in accordance with the company's HR policies

• Establish the annual objectives for all of his/her direct reports and follow up accordingly.

• Ensure all TMs are aligned and motivated towards achieving company goals, values and culture by promoting their personal and professional development whilst maximizing productivity.

• Define and review the list of the area technical competencies and establish training plans to develop such competencies.

• Contribute to the implementation of strategies on the design, acquisition and maintenance of facilities and equipment to guarantee the maximum reliability of the company assets.

• Provide technical solutions for unexpected events during the life cycle of installations and return such learnings to the ones in charge for engineering standards.

• Advise in the selection outsourced engineering, maintenance or facility contracts and resources to meet site requirements.

• Ensure that continuous improvement and lean thinking is used in all departmental activities- Engineering and -

• Guarantee that facilities respect Regulatory, National laws and Health authority requirements.

• Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and to comply with environmental, health & safety rules/procedures, regulations and codes of practice.

• Ensure compliance with GMP internal and external requirements as well as promote the implementation and maintenance of company policies, systems and procedures

Candidate Must Have: 

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.

• 10+ years of technical experience

• 7+ years of Engineering, Project or Maintenance experience

• 2+ years of Department Management experience of Engineering, Project and Maintenance groups

• Experience working in fine Chemicals, or BioPharma industries

• Extensive experience in Project management and execution

• Ability to lead and influence others with demonstrated extensive knowledge of Equipment, Systems and generic Engineering solutions applicable in fine chemicals plants

• Extensive knowledge of quality requirements applicable to technical installations.

• Extensive knowledge of legislation applicable to engineering projects

Candidate Nice to Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic

• Advanced degree in Engineering or MBA

• Experience managing new Greenfield or Brownfield projects

• PMI certification in Project Management Professional – PMP

• Professional Engineer – PE License

• Spray Drying Pharma Manufacturing experience

• Automation experience using PLC/HMI/DCS systems

• Experience working in a fast-paced Pharma contract Manufacturing organization (CDMO)
