New Process Technician - Production 

Position Summary: Supports converting leadership and staff, with activities of training, operating, optimizing, and troubleshooting machinery and processes within the converting department by performing the following duties personally. The New Process Technician position will focus on testing and developing new production processes as our client advances and adds to their product offering. Additionally, this person will support Shift Leaders, Engineering, Department Leaders, and Shop Maintenance personnel in standard, scheduled and non-scheduled Preventative Maintenance measures, calibration, cleaning processes, installation of machines, tools, and equipment, troubleshooting machinery and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Being fully qualified and capable of operating equipment and providing technical guidance via training / mentoring and process troubleshooting when appropriate on the machinery and work cell for which they are assigned.
  • Conduct physical testing of materials according to company standards
  • Follow trials on production equipment during scale up phase and assist team members at all stages of product scale up.
  • Perform data entry of test results and analysis using various statistical tools as needed.
  • Complete planned, scheduled Preventative Maintenance measures, troubleshooting measures, calibrations, and repairs, as outlined in the Plant Process PM List
  • Performs quality checks according to the quality test plans and makes decisions accordingly
  • Organize chemicals and raw materials in accordance to safety instructions, maintain and troubleshoot equipment and lab supplies as needed
  • Assist in preparation of samples for colleagues and potential customers
  • Monitor and adjust/optimize all equipment to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Adhere to all environment, health and safety (EHS) guidelines for personnel, machinery and support equipment.
  • Demonstrate safe usage and handling of chemicals and all materials used in the production area.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to IATF16949 and ISO14001
  • Highly motivated individual that can work independently and as part of a cross functional team 
  • Complete documentation of logged activities and events such as calibrations, completed PM’s, related downtime(s), etc. in associated logs and reports.
  • Support 6S activities in Team
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

 

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three to five years related manufacturing experience in a process technician role
  • A working knowledge of measurement instruments.
  • Experience with production machines.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and metric system. Some formal training with statistics is preferred.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams), Internet Explorer browser software; MES, SAP and Quality Management Software.
