ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Job Overview:

We are collaborating with a prominent food and hospitality company to strengthen their finance team. We are currently in search of a dynamic and experienced Assistant Controller who will closely collaborate with the Controller to manage the financial operations of the company. This pivotal role entails ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in our financial processes. It encompasses a blend of accounting, financial analysis, and leadership duties tailored to the distinct dynamics of the food and hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and analyzing financial statements for the company, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards specific to the food and hospitality industry.
  • Collaborate with company managers and executives to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor budget variances and provide analysis to support decision-making related to operational expenses.
  • Oversee inventory tracking and costing processes for food, beverages, and supplies. Implement controls to minimize shrinkage and waste.
  • Conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Analyze food and beverage costs, labor costs, and other operating expenses to optimize profitability.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for company staff. Verify compliance with wage and hour laws and regulations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing internal control procedures to safeguard assets and prevent fraud. Conduct periodic audits of company operations to ensure adherence to controls.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on technical matters and professional development. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in the food and/or hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards relevant to the food and hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques specific to company operations.
  • Experience with accounting software and systems used in the food and hospitality industry.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
