Registered Nurse First Assistant

Location:  West Coast Region of the United States     

 

Hospital: This is a Not-for-profit hospital system with a 7 Suite OR in the process of expansion.

 

Position: The Registered Nurse First Assistant is responsible for providing surgical support to the operating surgeon during surgeries. They assist the surgeon during the procedure and perform various duties related to surgical support. Surgical First Assistants are knowledgeable in surgical instrumentation, anatomy, physiology, and can provide surgical assistance in a variety of surgical procedures.

  • Preparing the operating room prior to the procedure, including sterilizing the area and supplying the necessary equipment and supplies
  • Assisting the surgeon during surgery by holding instruments, suturing wounds, and providing other surgical support as needed
  • Administering medication and preparing post-operative care plans for patients
  • Maintaining the surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies after each procedure.

 

Department Stats:

  • 50+ Surgical departmental staff
  • 3000+ Inpatient/4500+ outpatient cases annually.
  • 7 OR Suites currently, with expansion plans in the works. 1 DaVinci suite
  • Types of cases:  Robotics, Urology, Ortho, General, Spine

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, required.
  • RNFA required
  • Current state RN License, required.
  • 1+ years of experience as an RNFA
  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience in Perioperative/Surgical Services, required.
  • CNOR, required.
  • Basic Life Support healthcare provider (BLS), required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the operations of a Perioperative department, strongly preferred.

 

Schedule:

  • Shift: 8 hours
  • The weekly schedule is variable.
  • Weekend Requirements: As needed.

 

Salary range: $78.00/hour-$100/hour DOE
