The maintenance manager plans, organizes, and oversees maintenance and technical improvements to production machinery and installations, utilities, internal transport, and facilities.  He/she is the leader of a team of maintenance technicians who provide troubleshooting, repair, and support services in our plant in Mebane, North Carolina.  Our facility runs 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.  As a member of the plant management team, the Maintenance Manager reports to the Operations Director.  After-hours work and on-call assignments will be required as needed.

 

Job description

  • Plans and organizes maintenance and technical improvements to production machinery and installations, utilities, internal transport, and facilities
  • Supports engineering and project management during buildouts, upgrades, and improvements, and guarantees ownership and maintenance of new equipment after project close
  • As a member of the Plant Management Team, the manager will contribute to the plant performance
  • Prepares and executes the plant Maintenance Plan
  • Coaches and monitors the performance of the maintenance team (technical service team) both in preventive and curative maintenance
  • Optimizes efficiency by reducing technical downtime in joint effort with the production team
  • Implements and perpetuates a continuous improvement culture in the maintenance department (technical department)
  • Contributes to the safety of the plant and zero-accident culture

 

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • More than 5 years of management or leadership experience in a maintenance or facilities / technical service role
  • Experience with packaging machines is strongly desired
  • Prior experience in the food industry is strongly desired
  • Exposure to or prior working knowledge of bakery machines is a plus
  • Experience with packaging materials is helpful
  • Full professional proficiency in English is required; conversational Spanish is helpful
  • Familiarity with mechanical components and mechanisms; electrical components and controls; and programmable logic controllers (PLC) such as Allen Bradley and/or Siemens
  • Must be able to perform work duties following all regulatory practices (GMP, FSMA, food hygiene)
  • Must be a LEADER, not just a manager
