LEAD MAINTENANCE ENGINEER – AUTOMATED MANUFACTURING FACILITY

POSITION: The Senior Maintenance Engineer reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for planning and directing daily maintenance activities, supervising maintenance techs, working to improve processes and reduce machine downtime.  Primary responsibility is to troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and repair all plant mechanical, electrical, controls and automation systems and to provide training to technical staff.  This will involve the following functions:

 

 

  • Direct and manage equipment maintenance activities
  • Direct maintenance techs for work on down machines
  • Participate in projects to improve processes and reduce downtime
  • Convey maintenance updates and priorities to other shift leaders for efficient shift changes
  • Diagnose machine operation variations and equipment problems.
  • Manage the work order and preventive maintenance programs to keep the system updated
  • Direct troubleshooting and repairing of complex equipment including automated machines, robotics, controls, panels, relays, circuit breakers, communication systems, and drives
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, detects and replaces defective components
  • Contribute to improvements in the preventive maintenance planning, and execution
  • Develop root cause analysis reports for excessive downtime
  • Manage outside equipment and software contractors for support on site or remotely
  • Source and procure parts using SAP system while adhering to all purchasing rules
  • Help managing non-stocked capital critical spare parts
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, sketches or schematics
  • Instruct and train maintenance and electronics technicians in methods and procedures
  • Ensure the area organization at end of shift is according 5S standards

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Associates Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electronics, Electricity or related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, CNC Machines and robotics
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of programmable controllers and industrial robotics, preferably Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC’s and ABB Robotics
  • Working knowledge of maintenance techniques, materials, tools, and equipment
  • Supervisory experience is a plus
